What to Do If Someone Is Having a Seizure

H howtolive.guide ·

First, clear the area around them — move furniture, sharp objects, anything they could hit. Place something soft under their head if possible. Time the seizure from the start. Do not restrain them and do not put anything in their mouth — you'll only cause injury. Most seizures end on their own within 1-3 minutes. Once it stops, gently roll them onto their side (recovery position) and stay with them as they regain awareness — they'll be confused and scared. Call emergency services if the seizure lasts over 5 minutes, if it's their first seizure, or if they don't regain consciousness.

The point
Clear the area, protect their head, time the seizure, and never restrain them or put anything in their mouth.
