What to Do If Someone Overdoses

Call emergency services immediately — Good Samaritan laws in most countries and US states protect you from legal consequences when reporting an overdose. If you suspect an opioid overdose (slow or stopped breathing, pinpoint pupils, blue lips), administer naloxone (Narcan) if available — it's safe even if you're wrong about the cause. Place the person in the recovery position (on their side) so they won't choke on vomit. Stay with them until help arrives. Never try to "walk them off," put them in a cold shower, give them coffee, or let them "sleep it off" — these don't work and waste precious time.
The point
