What to Do When You Can't Stop Crying

H howtolive.guide ·

First: don't fight it. Crying is your body releasing pressure — resisting it often makes it worse and longer. If you need to function soon, there are physical ways to interrupt it: splash cold water on your face, hold an ice cube, or count objects in the room. These aren't tricks to suppress emotion — they engage your nervous system just enough to give you a pause. Afterward, drink water, eat something small, and rest if you can. Crying is genuinely exhausting — it uses physical energy. Don't try to analyze the why right now. Take care of the body first; the thinking can come later.

The point
Let the crying happen; if you need to stop, use cold water or grounding; then rest and eat.
