Never Pour Hot Grease Down the Kitchen Sink

Grease is liquid when hot but solidifies as it cools in your pipes. Over time it builds up, narrows the pipe diameter, and eventually causes a complete blockage. Professional drain cleaning is expensive, and severe clogs can require pipe replacement.
Let grease cool in the pan, then wipe it with a paper towel into the trash. For larger amounts, pour the cooled grease into a disposable container (an old can or jar works) and throw it away with regular garbage. Some cities have grease recycling programs — check if yours does.
The point
Grease solidifies in pipes and causes expensive clogs — cool it in the pan, wipe with paper towels, and throw in the trash.
