Every soup starts the same way, and once you learn that base, you can make hundreds of variations without a recipe. The pattern: saute aromatics, add broth, add whatever you have, season, simmer.
Dice onion, garlic, celery, and carrot. Saute in olive oil or butter until softened. Add broth (chicken, vegetable, whatever). Then add your main ingredients — beans, chicken, potatoes, greens, pasta. Season with salt, pepper, and any herbs. Simmer until tender. That's literally it. Master this one formula and you'll never be stuck staring at the fridge wondering what to eat on a cold evening.
The point
Once you learn the universal soup base — saute aromatics, add broth, add ingredients, simmer — you can make endless variations.
