How to Give Feedback That Actually Helps Instead of Hurts

Bad feedback is vague, personal, or delivered at the wrong moment. Good feedback is specific, behavior-focused, and offered with genuine care for the person's growth. Instead of "Your presentation was weak," try "The data on slide three could be stronger -- would you like help finding better sources?" Timing matters too: give it soon after the event, in private, and when the person is in a state to hear it. The goal is progress, not punishment.
The point
Effective feedback is specific, behavior-focused, and delivered privately with the person's growth in mind.
