Baking Soda and Vinegar Neutralize Each Other When Mixed

H howtolive.guide ·

The fizz looks dramatic but it's just producing water and CO2 — you end up with slightly salty water that cleans no better than plain water. The viral cleaning hack of mixing them together wastes both products.

They work great separately. Vinegar dissolves hard water stains and mineral deposits. Baking soda is a gentle abrasive for scrubbing sinks and pans. Use each one for what it does best, just not at the same time. The impressive bubbles are chemistry, not cleaning power.

The point
Mixing baking soda and vinegar just makes salty water — use them separately for actual cleaning power.
