Wash Shower Curtains Before Replacing Them
That pink or black buildup on your shower curtain is mold and soap scum, not a sign the curtain is done. Toss it in the washing machine with a couple of towels and a cup of vinegar — the towels provide scrubbing action, the vinegar helps loosen soap scum, and the wash itself removes the mold. Most curtains come out looking almost new. Only replace when the material itself is deteriorating — tearing, cracking, or losing its water resistance.
