Brushing Right After Acidic Food Damages Your Enamel

After eating citrus, tomatoes, vinegar-based dressings, or drinking juice and soda, your tooth enamel is temporarily softened by acid. If you brush immediately, you're scrubbing away that weakened layer. Wait at least 30 minutes before brushing — this gives your saliva time to neutralize the acid and remineralize the enamel. In the meantime, you can rinse your mouth with plain water or chew sugar-free gum to speed up the process. It's a small timing change that protects your teeth for decades.
