Use Ice Cube Trays to Freeze Broth, Pesto, and Tomato Paste

H howtolive.guide ·

Most recipes call for a tablespoon or two of tomato paste, a splash of broth, or a spoonful of pesto — not the whole container. Pour the leftovers into ice cube trays and freeze them. Once solid, pop the cubes out and transfer them to a freezer bag.

Each cube is roughly one to two tablespoons — a perfect portion for cooking. You will never again throw away half a can of tomato paste or watch a jar of pesto grow mold in the back of the fridge. This works equally well for coconut milk, wine, herb butter, and citrus juice.

The point
Freeze small portions of broth, paste, and sauces in ice cube trays so you always have exactly what you need.
