How to Store Herbs and Greens So They Last Much Longer

Most herbs and greens die in the fridge within days because they are stored wrong. Treat soft herbs like basil, parsley, and cilantro like flowers — trim the stems and place them upright in a glass of water in the fridge (basil prefers room temperature). Cover loosely with a plastic bag. They will stay fresh for one to two weeks instead of three days.
For sturdy greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach, wrap them in a slightly damp paper towel and place them in a container or bag with a little airflow. The towel absorbs excess moisture that causes rot while keeping the leaves hydrated. This simple trick can double or triple the life of your greens and save you from throwing food away.
The point
Treat soft herbs like flowers in water; wrap sturdy greens in a damp paper towel. Both will last two to three times longer.

Wrap herbs in a damp paper towel, put in a ziplock bag with air. My cilantro now lasts 2 weeks instead of 3 days. Before this trick, I was basically buying expensive compost.
