Social Media Feeds Are Infinite by Design — Set a Timer Before You Open Them

There is no bottom to a social media feed. It is engineered to never end, so you never get a natural stopping point. Without one, your brain defaults to "just a little more" — and five minutes becomes forty-five. This is not a willpower problem; it is a design feature working exactly as intended.

The simplest counterattack is to set a timer before you open any feed-based app. Decide in advance: I will spend ten minutes on this. When the timer rings, close it. You will not see everything — and that is fine. You were never going to see everything anyway. The feed will still be infinite tomorrow.
