When everything feels like it's falling apart, your attention narrows to the one thing that's broken and ignores everything that isn't. That's not the full picture, it's a spotlight, and spotlights leave most of the room in the dark.

Pause and name three things that are still fine right now — your breathing, the roof over your head, a person who'd pick up the phone. This won't fix the actual problem, but it will stop the problem from acting like it's the only thing that exists.
