Don't Confuse Being Busy With Being Okay

Hyperproductivity can be a sophisticated form of running from yourself. If you only feel okay when you're doing something — when the calendar is full, the to-do list is moving, the distractions are constant — it's worth asking what you're avoiding by never stopping. Busyness as emotional avoidance is invisible because society rewards it. Nobody questions you when you say you're busy. But the mind keeps its own tally, and the crash always comes eventually — usually at the worst possible moment.
