Curiosity Is the Antidote to Judgment
H

·
When you catch yourself judging — yourself or someone else — try switching to curiosity. Instead of "why is he so lazy?" try "I wonder what's going on with him." Instead of "why can't I get it together?" try "what's making this hard right now?" Curiosity opens doors; judgment closes them. Judgment is a conclusion. Curiosity is an invitation. One ends the conversation, the other begins it.
The point
Replacing judgment with curiosity — about yourself or others — turns a dead end into an open question.
