Know the Difference Between Use, Habit, and Addiction

These three words describe a spectrum, not the same thing. Use is a conscious choice with no pattern. Habit is a repeated pattern that you could stop but don't. Addiction is when stopping causes distress and continued use causes harm, yet you can't quit. Most people underestimate where they are on this spectrum. If you need something daily to function or feel okay, that's worth examining — regardless of whether the substance is alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, or sugar. Honesty with yourself is the first diagnostic tool.
The point
Use, habit, and addiction sit on a spectrum — be honest about where you actually are, not where you think you should be.
