Most food waste starts inside your fridge — buried behind containers, forgotten in drawers, hidden by newer purchases. The fix is simple: make everything visible. Put new groceries in the back and move older items to the front. Keep a "use first" area at eye level where you place anything that needs to be eaten soon.

Group by category, not by shape: dairy together, condiments together, leftovers together. Use clear containers so you can see what is inside. Keep fruits and vegetables in separate drawers — they release different gases that make each other spoil faster. And once a week, before you shop, do a quick five-minute fridge scan. You will buy less, waste less, and always know what you have.
