The Grandparent Scam — Now With AI-Cloned Voices

A panicked call: "Grandma, I'm in trouble, I need money immediately, don't tell anyone." This classic scam exploits love and urgency — and AI can now clone a familiar voice from a 3-second social media clip. The voice sounds real. The panic sounds real. But the situation is manufactured. Always verify: ask a question only the real person would know, or say "I'll call you right back" and call their actual number. A real grandchild in trouble will still be in trouble in 60 seconds. A scammer won't wait that long.
