Set a Family Meeting Point Before an Evacuation

H howtolive.guide ·

Pick two spots: one near your home (like the neighbor's mailbox or a specific tree — for house fires) and one outside your neighborhood (a relative's house, a community center — for area-wide evacuations). If phones are down and your family is scattered, everyone knows exactly where to reunite without coordination. This takes five minutes to agree on and eliminates the most terrifying part of any emergency — not knowing where your people are.

The point
Two pre-agreed meeting points — one nearby, one further out — eliminate the worst part of an emergency: not knowing where your family is.
