Forgiveness Does Not Mean Forgetting or Giving Permission to Repeat

Forgiveness is often misunderstood as weakness or as an invitation for the same behavior to happen again. It's neither. Forgiveness is releasing yourself from carrying the weight of what happened -- it's about your freedom, not their absolution. You can forgive someone and still choose to keep a distance. You can let go of the resentment without erasing the lesson. The two are not the same, and confusing them is how people end up in the same painful cycle twice.
The point
Forgiveness frees you from carrying the weight -- it does not mean accepting the same behavior again.
