Social Anxiety Is Not Introversion — Know the Difference

Introversion is a preference: you recharge alone, and that's perfectly fine. Social anxiety is something different — it's fear that shapes your choices, not preference. The introvert leaves a party feeling content and pleasantly drained. The socially anxious person leaves feeling relieved — relieved it's over, relieved nobody seemed to notice them, relieved to be safe again. One is a personality trait; the other is a painful pattern. Knowing which one you're dealing with matters, because what helps is completely different.
The point
Introversion is a preference for solitude; social anxiety is fear of social situations — they need different responses.
