Make Your First Attempt Before You Feel Ready

H howtolive.guide ·

You will never feel ready. That feeling of readiness you're waiting for comes from experience, not preparation. You can't read your way into confidence — confidence comes from having done the thing, even badly. Your first attempt is research, not performance. It shows you what you actually don't know, which is far more valuable than what a textbook tells you.

The fastest way to get ready is to start before you are. Write the terrible first draft. Give the stumbling first presentation. Build the broken first prototype. Each awkward beginning teaches you things that no amount of preparation can. Perfection is not the goal of attempt number one — information is.

The point
Readiness comes from experience, not preparation \u{2014} your first attempt is research that shows you what you actually need to learn.
