Never Sign a Blank Document or One With Empty Unfilled Fields

It sounds obvious, but it happens constantly — especially under time pressure or when someone you trust says "don't worry, I'll fill in the details later." Empty spaces on a signed document can be filled in after your signature, and what gets written there is legally binding with your name on it. This is one of the oldest fraud tricks in existence, and it still works because people feel awkward refusing.
Before signing anything, cross out every blank field that does not apply to you, or write "N/A" in empty spaces. If a form is not yet complete, do not sign it. If someone pressures you to sign now and "sort out the details later," that is exactly the moment to walk away.
The point
Empty fields on a signed document can be filled in later against your interest — cross out blanks or write N/A before signing.
