Mute Group Chats by Default — Unmute the Ones That Matter

Group chats are notification factories. A single active group can generate dozens of pings per day — birthday wishes, memes, side conversations, and reactions that have nothing to do with you. Left unmuted, they fragment your attention constantly and train you to ignore notifications entirely, including the ones that actually matter.

Flip the default: mute every group chat the moment you join it. Then selectively unmute the two or three that genuinely need your real-time attention. You can still check the muted ones on your own schedule. The difference in focus and mental peace is immediate.
