One Example Is Not a Pattern

H howtolive.guide ·

A single vivid case — a friend's experience, one dramatic news story — feels representative but statistically means almost nothing. Our brains are wired to generalize from stories, not from data. Before you draw a conclusion, ask yourself: is this a pattern or just one memorable example? The plural of anecdote is not data.

The point
A single vivid story is not enough to establish a pattern — don't generalize from one case.
