Never Read Verification Codes Aloud to Anyone

No bank, no service, no tech support will ever need you to read them a code that was sent to YOUR phone. That code is the key to your account — reading it aloud hands that key to a thief who is already halfway through breaking in. This is one of the most common scam techniques: the attacker triggers a password reset or login attempt, and then calls you posing as "security" to get the code. If anyone asks for your verification code, the correct response is to hang up immediately and contact the service directly.
The point
A verification code sent to your phone is your security key — anyone asking you to share it is trying to steal your account.
