Never Try to Drive Through a Flooded Road

H howtolive.guide ·

Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you off your feet; 12 inches can carry away a car. You cannot judge the depth from looking — the road surface beneath may be eroded or completely gone. Every year, people drown in their cars because they thought "it doesn't look that deep." Turn around — no shortcut, no meeting, no appointment is worth the risk. If water is rising around your stationary car, abandon the vehicle immediately and move to higher ground. Half of all flood deaths happen in vehicles.

The point
Never drive through a flooded road — 12 inches of water can sweep away a car, and you can't judge depth by looking.
