Don't Let a Recruiter's Urgency Become Your Deadline
"We need an answer by tomorrow" is one of the most common pressure tactics in hiring, and it rarely reflects an actual company constraint. A decision this size deserves more than the time it takes someone else to fill a spreadsheet. Real emergencies exist, but most manufactured urgency evaporates the moment you push back politely.
Ask for the specific reason behind the deadline and request a few more days if you genuinely need them. A company that withdraws an offer because you asked for reasonable time to decide was showing you exactly how they treat people under pressure — before you had to find out the hard way.
The point
A recruiter's artificial deadline is a pressure tactic more often than a real constraint — ask for the reason and push for time if you need it.
