Never Badmouth Your Previous Employer in an Interview

H howtolive.guide ·

Even if your last job was genuinely terrible, trashing it in an interview makes you look bitter, not insightful. Interviewers will wonder what you'd say about their company after you leave. Frame departures neutrally: "I outgrew the role," "I was looking for different challenges," or "The team's direction shifted away from my strengths." You can be honest about misalignment without being negative. Save the venting for trusted friends.

The point
Speaking poorly about a former employer reflects more on you than on them -- stay professional and forward-looking.
