What to Do When You Have Lost Motivation for a Long-Term Project

H howtolive.guide ·

When a project that once excited you now feels like a chore, pause and reconnect with why you started. What was the original pull? If that reason still holds, you might just need a smaller next step — shrink the next milestone to something achievable this week.

But if the "why" no longer resonates, be honest with yourself. You have two real options: recommit with a clear plan, or quit intentionally. Both are respectable. What is not respectable is zombieing forward — half-in, half-out, draining energy without progress.

The point
Reconnect with why you started — if the reason still holds, shrink the next step. If it does not, decide honestly: recommit or quit.
