What to Do When a Deadline Is Approaching and You Are Behind

H howtolive.guide ·

Stop planning. Stop reorganizing your to-do list. Start producing the ugliest, most incomplete version of the work you can. A rough draft, a skeleton outline, a half-baked prototype — anything tangible is better than a perfect plan you have not started.

Done badly now beats perfect never. And if you genuinely need more time, communicate early. Telling someone "I need two more days" a week in advance is responsible. Telling them the night before is a crisis. Silence is always worse than asking.

The point
Stop planning and start with the roughest possible version — done badly now beats perfect never. Communicate early if you need more time.
