Look at What's Missing, Not Just What's Present

H howtolive.guide ·

Absence blindness: we naturally focus on what's there — the features, the data, the voices in the room. What's absent is often more revealing: who isn't speaking, what wasn't measured, which option wasn't considered. The dog that didn't bark in the Sherlock Holmes story solved the case. Train yourself to ask not just "what do I see?" but "what should be here and isn't?"

The point
What's absent often reveals more than what's present.
