Verify the License Plate Before Getting Into a Rideshare

Before getting into any rideshare, check three things: license plate, car model, and driver's name. Don't just ask "are you my Uber?" — that lets anyone say yes. Instead, ask "who are you picking up?" and make them say your name. Fake rideshares are a documented predatory tactic, and the few seconds of verification cost you nothing.
