Understand the Difference Between Investing and Speculating Before You Put Money Anywhere
Investing is buying something because its underlying value will grow over time. Speculating is buying something because you believe someone else will pay more for it later. Both have a place, but confusing speculation for investment is how people lose money they cannot afford to lose. When you buy an index fund, you are investing in the economy. When you buy a meme coin hoping it goes up tomorrow, you are speculating.
The danger is not speculation itself — it is not knowing which one you are doing. If you speculate, use money you have mentally written off. If you invest, have a thesis that does not depend on hype. The moment you catch yourself checking prices every hour, you have probably crossed the line from investor to speculator without realizing it.
