Before Quitting for More Money Calculate the Full Compensation Package
A higher salary number at a new job can be misleading if you do not account for the full picture. Health insurance, retirement matching, stock options, paid time off, remote work flexibility, and commute costs can easily add up to tens of thousands of dollars in hidden value. A job paying ten thousand more but offering worse benefits might actually be a pay cut when you add everything up.
Before making a move, list every component of your current compensation — not just salary. Then do the same for the offer. Include the monetary value of benefits, the cost of things you will lose, and intangible factors like job security and work-life balance. The clearest financial decisions come from comparing complete pictures, not just headline numbers.
