The Myth of Closure: Some Things Stay Open and That's Okay

H howtolive.guide ·

We have been sold the idea that every painful experience should end with closure — a neat conversation, a satisfying explanation, a moment when the book closes cleanly. In reality, many of life's hardest chapters end mid-sentence. People leave without explaining. Losses happen without reason. Relationships dissolve without a final scene.

Waiting for closure can keep you stuck longer than the pain itself. Sometimes there is no tidy ending, and the healthiest thing you can do is to build a good life around an open wound. Not every question gets an answer. Not every story gets a final chapter. And that is not a sign that something is wrong with you — it is simply how life works.

The point
Not every painful experience ends with a tidy resolution — learning to live with open questions is a strength, not a failure.
