How to Deal with a Colleague Who Takes Credit for Your Work

H howtolive.guide ·

It stings, but reacting emotionally usually makes you look worse. The best defense is making your contributions visible before someone else can claim them. Share your work-in-progress in team channels, send update emails that timestamp your involvement, and speak up in meetings about what you're working on. If it keeps happening, address it directly but calmly: "I noticed X was presented as your idea -- I'd like to make sure my contribution is recognized." Document patterns, and escalate to your manager only with facts, not frustration.

The point
Make your contributions visible proactively so there is no ambiguity about who did the work.
