How to Keep Receipts and Warranties Organized Without Going Crazy

H howtolive.guide ·

Most people toss receipts into a drawer and pray they can find the right one when an appliance breaks. A better approach takes two minutes: photograph every receipt for purchases over a certain amount and save it to a dedicated folder on your phone or cloud storage. Name the file with the date and item — "2026-01-15 washing machine" is findable; a crumpled receipt in a drawer is not.

For warranties, create a simple note or spreadsheet listing the item, purchase date, warranty expiration, and where the proof of purchase is stored. When something breaks, you will know in seconds whether it is still covered. This tiny system pays for itself the first time you successfully claim a warranty instead of buying a replacement.

The point
Photograph receipts, save them with clear names, and keep a simple list of warranties with expiration dates. Two minutes now saves hours later.
