Know When to Decide Fast and When to Decide Slow

H howtolive.guide ·

Most decisions are reversible. You can change your hairstyle, switch tools, undo a feature, or try a different approach. For these, speed matters more than perfection — decide quickly, learn from the result, and adjust. Agonizing over reversible choices is one of the biggest wastes of time and energy.

But some decisions are one-way doors: quitting a job, signing a lease, having a child, burning a professional relationship. These deserve careful thought, multiple perspectives, and a willingness to sleep on it. The skill is telling the two apart. Ask: "If this turns out to be wrong, can I undo it easily?" If yes, move fast. If no, slow down.

The point
Move fast on decisions you can undo and slow down on decisions you cannot.
