Trying to 'Save' Someone Who Hasn't Asked to Be Saved

Rescuing adults who didn't ask for help doesn't create gratitude -- it creates dependency and resentment. What feels like love to you often feels like control to them. Help that isn't requested is a statement about your needs, not theirs. The hardest but healthiest thing is sometimes to stand close, offer your hand, and wait for them to take it.
The point
Unrequested help often feels like control, not love -- wait for people to ask before trying to save them.
