Urgency tactics work because your brain is already emotionally committed. The antidote is simple: never make a major purchase on the same day you first see it.

Give yourself at least a week. Compare at least three options. Read reviews from people who have owned it for a year, not a day. Ask someone who has made the same purchase what they wish they had known. The right choice will still be there next week. If the deal disappears, it was not the right deal.
