Stop Buying Things to Impress People You Don't Even Like

H howtolive.guide ·

A shocking amount of spending is driven not by what you want, but by what you want others to think of you. The car that says you have made it. The brand-name clothes that signal status. The restaurant you cannot really afford but post on social media anyway. If you removed the audience, would you still want it? That question alone can save you a fortune.

The irony is that the people you are trying to impress are too busy worrying about their own image to notice yours. Real respect comes from how you treat people and how you carry yourself — not from what you carry. Spend on what genuinely brings you joy, not on what you hope will bring you admiration.

The point
If you would not buy it without an audience, you are not buying it for yourself — you are renting approval.
