Do Not Let Ambition Replace Aliveness

Ambition is a powerful engine, but it makes a poor compass. When you optimize every hour for future results, you stop being present in the life you already have. The danger is not that you will fail — it is that you will succeed at something and realize you were asleep for the entire journey.
Ambition asks: "What can I achieve?" Aliveness asks: "What am I experiencing?" You need both questions. But if you can only hear one, make sure it is the second. A full life is not the one with the longest resume — it is the one with the most presence.
The point
Ambition without presence leads to a life of achievements you were too busy to experience.
