Don't Keep Things Just Because Someone Gifted Them

H howtolive.guide ·

A gift fulfills its purpose the moment it's given and received. After that, it's just an object — and you're not obligated to store it forever. Keeping something you don't use, don't like, or don't have room for out of guilt doesn't honor the giver. It just weighs you down. The love was in the act of giving, not in the object gathering dust on your shelf.

Thank the memory, then let the object go to someone who will actually use it.

The point
A gift's purpose is fulfilled when it's given — keeping it out of guilt when it doesn't serve you wastes space and creates resentment.
