Security Questions Should Never Have Honest Answers

H howtolive.guide ·

Your mother's maiden name is on Facebook. Your first pet's name is in an old photo caption. The city where you were born is on your LinkedIn. Anyone with ten minutes and a search engine can answer most security questions about you truthfully.

Treat security questions as bonus passwords, not actual questions. Make up fictional answers and store them in your password manager. Your first car? "PurpleDinosaur42." Your favorite teacher? "CoffeeTableLamp." Absurd and memorable to you, impossible to guess or research for anyone else.

The point
Honest security question answers are easy to research — use fictional answers and store them like passwords.
