Public Wi-Fi Is Not Your Friend — What You Should Never Do on It

That free Wi-Fi at the coffee shop, airport, or hotel is convenient — and it is also an environment where your traffic can be intercepted by anyone on the same network. Fake hotspots with familiar names ("Starbucks_WiFi_Free") are trivial to set up and impossible to distinguish from the real thing without checking.
Avoid logging into banking, email, or anything with sensitive credentials on public Wi-Fi. If you must use it, a VPN encrypts your traffic and makes interception meaningless. At minimum, verify that every site you visit shows HTTPS in the address bar. And never access anything sensitive on a network that does not even require a password to join.
The point
Public Wi-Fi makes your traffic visible to others on the network — avoid sensitive logins or use a VPN to encrypt your connection.
