What to Do When You're the Only Beginner in the Room
You joined a class or team where everyone already speaks the shorthand and you don't. The instinct is to stay quiet and nod along. Say plainly, once, near the start: “I'm new to this — I'll probably ask basic questions.”
Then ask the one question that unblocks the most confusion, and find whoever explains things patiently. You're not behind — you're just earlier on a path everyone else already walked.
The point
Naming your beginner status openly, asking one unblocking question, and finding a patient explainer beats silently pretending to keep up.
