Choose Skills That Are Rare and Valuable, Not Just Interesting

H Pavel Volkov · howtolive.guide ·

Passion is a poor filter for what to learn next — plenty of things are fascinating and useless in a crowded market. A skill is worth building when it is rare and valuable, not merely enjoyable. Enjoyment can come later, once you're good enough to feel it.

Before committing months, ask bluntly: will few others do this, and will people need what it produces? Rare and valuable is what turns a hobby into leverage.

The point
The most useful skills to learn are the ones few people have and many people need — interest alone does not guarantee that.
