Do Not Let Temporary Storage Become Permanent

That box you'll unpack "later." The bag of returns sitting by the door. The pile of things to sort "this weekend." Temporary storage has a way of becoming invisible — and then permanent. Set a hard deadline: if something has been sitting in a "temporary" spot for 30 days, it either gets put away properly or it leaves your home.

The trick is treating temporary zones like expiring parking meters. Time's ticking. If you don't act, there's a consequence — and that consequence is clutter becoming the new normal.
