Your Router Needs Firmware Updates Too — Check Them Quarterly

You update your phone and computer regularly, but when was the last time you updated your router? For most people, the answer is never. Routers run software just like any other device, and that software has vulnerabilities that are discovered and patched over time. An unpatched router is a known entry point for attackers.

Set a quarterly reminder to log into your router's admin panel and check for firmware updates. Most modern routers make this a one-click process. Some even support automatic updates — turn that on if available. Your router is the gateway between the internet and every device in your home. Keeping it updated is not optional.
